April MeeBox…

It’s that time again! I’m a little late this month as this MeeBox arrived around my birthday time so I was too busy to do anything other than open the box, but now is the time to dive in!

The theme for April was ‘Soft Scoop’ so I was imagining beautiful pastels and boy, was I right! This box came with three gorgeous colours, two nail art items AND an added extra… Zoya matte top coat. Let’s go!

The first polish out of the box was the beautiful summery, pastel yellow ‘Banana Split’ by Models Own.

Models Own ‘Banana Split’, two/three coats plus top coat.

This is a scented polish and while the scratch and sniff label on the lid smelled yummy I didn’t get any whiff of banana from the actual polish 😦 It’s still a beautiful colour though so I’ll overlook the lack of smell. This was a little streaky on application but just about evened out after two coats (but a couple of fingers needed three) and looked much better with top coat. This is a 10ml bottle and retails at Ā£4.99, although Models Own is usually on offer at Superdrug šŸ™‚

The next polish out of the box was Trust Fund Beauty ‘Do You Know Who My Father Is?’, a sweet, pastel pink that applies like a dream.

Trust Fund Beauty ‘Do You Know Who My Father Is?’, two coats plus top coat.

This polish seems to ‘self level’ better than the others so looked perfect even before the top coat went on. This is a whopping 17ml bottle and retails at around $12, so approx. Ā£9.20.

The last polish is from iZ Beauty of London and is called ‘Baby Blue’ and it is just that.

iZ Beauty ‘Baby Blue’, three coats plus top coat.

I found this beautiful blue to be patchy on the first coat, streaky on the second and better on the third. Again, top coat evened it all out. This is a tiny 6ml bottle though so with all those coats this is going to run out quickly. It retails at Ā£6 but for Ā£1 per ml I would have expected it to be perfect when applied, especially as this is supposed to be a ‘gel effect polish’.

The nail art items were lots of fun! I LOVE Whats Up Nails vinyls and I had been meaning to pick up these drip vinyls for a while. I was not disappointed. They apply easily and remove smoothly. I did have one nail where it lifted the polish but that was most likely down to me not letting the polish dry for long enough. The pot of glitter is aptly called ‘Neopolitan Confetti’ and was a mix of different sized gold, silver, green and pink round, metallic glitters. I already have a pot of Whats Up Nails confetti so I was happy to add this to my ever increasing nail art collection!

I did a little mani using the three polishes (and my own OPI ‘Alpine Snow’) and both of the nail art items to make it look like I had dripping ice cream nails with sprinkles on top šŸ™‚

Ok then, thoughts on this MeeBox…

  • Polishes: I loved ALL of the colours, however the blue iZ polish was disappointing. My favourite was definitely the pink Trust Fund Beauty polish, not just because it was pink but because the formula was just so good.
  • Nail art items: As with all of the vinyls and glitters that I have tried from Whats Up Nails these were great. Good quality, great colours and fun to use šŸ™‚
  • Zoya Velvet Matte top coat: I didn’t think this was as good as my regular matte top coat; it didn’t dry as matte or as flawless but that part could be down to the brush. I prefer a flatter brush for top coats as it gives an easier and smoother application. I’ll have to try this with a flat brush and see if it is any better.
  • The best part of the box? I would have to say the vinyls and the Trust Fund pink polish šŸ™‚

Ok, then! Another month over! The theme for next month’s MeeBox is ‘Lost City’ and my thoughts are that we’re going to see gold, red, green or blue with some sort of stamping plate for some lovely Aztec style stamping… I hope I’m right!

Well then, thanks for reading. Let me know what your favourite part of the MeeBox was in the comments and ’til next time… x x
