Mani and Lola – August 2018

Hi all! I’m catching up with all of my personal swatch projects so I am late with the Mani and Lola box again! September’s box landed in my lap today but I thought I had better share August’s first!

img_0172This month’s box contained goodies worth over £66 including four polishes and two foot care items. I do enjoy feet treats so I plan to use the moisture treatment but I don’t think I will use the oil, I tend to walk around barefoot so oil is not a good combination with a slippy kitchen floor! 😀

a368caeb-467d-4a24-a7fa-e9eb951243beThe first polish out of the box was an Artistic polish in the shade ‘Vortex Vixen’. This is a pink toned nude which covered very well on the first coat but I gave it a second coat to even out any patches (shown with top coat). It’s not really a “me” colour, (I don’t use a lot of nude polishes) but it made a pretty base for some nail art. The RRP Vortex Viven is £9.95.

The next polish was OPI ‘This Isn’t Greenland’, which is very similar to ‘Stranger Tides’ from OPI’s Pirates of the Caribbean Collection. A pale sage green, this covered beautifully in two coats (shown with top coat). This is my kind of colour, its a lovely muted green so it’s perfect for the change in the season. The RRP of This Isn’t Greenland is £12.95.

I got to use my new UberChic Lovely Leaves plate with this pretty polish, my favourite image on this plate is the aspen trees so of course they made an appearance 🙂

Morgan Taylor ‘Invitation Only’ was out next, a bright purple creme which was a bit sheer on the first coat but covered over nicely with the second. I like this colour, nice and bright with a very smooth finish. The formula as it came out of the bottle was very powdery though and I had to shake it for a good 5-10 minutes first, as there was a lot of streaks of separated pigment. it tuned out well in the end though! The RRP of Invitation Only is £11. (Shown with top coat).

I attempted a bit of multichrome powder nail art over this but did end up with a little bald patch along the free edge. I’ll work on my technque for next time! 😀

The last polish in this month’s (or should that be last month…) box was Zoya ‘Kiki’. This is a hot pink with purple to blue shimmer and silver shimmer flecks. This was a bit sheer and took three coats to cover (shown with top coat). I could still see my nail line but it wasn’t annoying me so I didn’t add any more. This is a very lovely colour, I do love hot pink and maybe this one will be used again. Kiki’s RRP is £11.70.

The nail art I chose got a bit busy, so I’m not loving it however, its pink so all is forgiven!

I really liked the colours in this box. The Artistic polish, although not a colour I usually reach for, was pretty and I will probably use it as the base for more nail art. My favourite was ‘This Isn’t Greenland’, probably as it is so similar to one of my favourite polishes (OPI Stranger Tides). I thought there was a lovely range of colour in this box and the foot care items were a nice addition as we leave the hot summer and head towards colder weather, where feet start to get tucked into socks and forgotten about.

I haven’t even opened my September box yet, but I am super excited so I’m off to do that now and will be back, sooner rather than later with the next Mani and Lola-related blog post.

Thanks for reading, ’til next time… x x
