March MeeBox

Hi there! It seemed to take ages for the March MeeBox to reach us but then I released that I am impatient and it didn’t take long at all!

The theme of this month’s MeeBox is ‘Miami Nice’, so I was immediately thinking of bright 80’s colours and I wasn’t wrong! There are three fab polishes in this month’s box along with two nail art items and a little extra which the subscribers found out about before the release and I was very excited to try it! In fact, I was so excited about this month’s selection that I did the swatches AND wrote the review all on the same day it was delivered! So then, let’s dig in!

First up is a  Lauren B. Beauty polish called Coral Canyon. I would call this less coral and more a bright peach/apricot creme but whatever it is, I love it! It’s a beautiful colour with a great formula, I found three thin coats to be better than two normal coats to avoid ‘shadowy patches’. This would look better on someone who is not as pale as me (!) however it will be great for nail art! It is a nice big 14.8ml bottle. This retails at approx. £14.

Next we have Nailberry ‘Extravagant’. This is a deep plum creme and again, the formula was smooth to apply (the best of all three polishes) with two coats needed for full opacity. I like this kind of colour, a tad dark for a Spring shade but it goes perfectly with the other two colours. This polish is breathable, 5 free, cruelty free and vegan! A 15ml bottle, this retails at £14.50.

The last polish is ‘Wet’ by Floss Gloss. I was excited to try out a Floss Gloss polish as I have heard mixed reviews and I missed out on ‘Dimepiece’ from an earlier box. This baby is a bright turquoise creme which is 7 free and cruelty free. I wasn’t very impressed with the formula, it made for a patchy application. I ended up having to use a third coat to get a smooth(er) finish that was still patchy in places. The redeeming feature was that it was a nice colour. This 5.5ml bottle retails at approx. £6.

Alrighty, on to the nail art items! Both are from Charlie’s Nail art.

The first item is a strip of holographic nail foil. I’ve had mixed experiences with nails foils but Charlie has kindly added some instructions and tips on the back of the pack for those of you who haven’t tried them before. I had success with this foil and found it transferred to the nail well.

The second nail art item is a tiny bag of some coloured shapes (diamonds? Rhombuses? Parallelograms?). There were pink, green, holo silver and holo gold shapes and they were super sparkly! I loved playing with these and managed to do a geometric cube vector pattern (for anyone saying “What the heck is she going on about?!” I will follow up with some pictures of my manis that I created on my next post 😉

Ok then, the secret extra that got the subscribers so excited turned out to be….*drumroll* a mini Leighton Denny crystal nail file.

I have heard great things about these files and the Leighton Denny one is apparently one of the best. (It has won 15 awards after all!). The key feature of crystal nail files is that they are specially designed to not leave any rough bits on the nail edge and do not cause any damage to the nail, even when filing back and forth. It doesn’t leave any of those annoying ‘threads’ that you sometimes get at the free edge when doing a lot of filing and it is gentle enough that I can use it on my 14 month old (I file her nails after clipping them so that she doesn’t have any rough edges to scratch her face with). I was very impressed with this file and even more impressed that it comes with a 25 year guarantee. That’s almost as many years as I’ve been around!! This nail file is a mini and is worth around £8.

Ok then, thoughts… I really liked this box. Truly, everything about it was great. The formula of the Floss Gloss was highly disappointing but the rest of the box made up for it. I love the colours of the polishes, very 80’s Miami. I loved paying around with the nail art bits and the nail file is exceptional. Favourite item? I guess it would have to be a tie between the file and the Lauren B. polish as the file is amazing and the polish is such a beautiful colour. One of the other great things about the box is that you get over £40 (March) worth of goodies for just £20. Plus it gets you to try new brands that you haven’t had the chance to try or haven’t heard of before.

Right then, as I mentioned before, I will follow up this post with some nail art using March’s goodies, so check back around the weekend and take a look!

Thanks for reading! x x
