The Hollywood Indie Box is a collaboration between four UK indie polish makers: Freckles Polish, Danglefoot Nail Polish, Princess Nail Lacquer and Opulent Essences. I had missed out on previous indie polish boxes and I LOVE indies so I just had to get this one. I was very excited for it to arrive and swatched them all the very same day! I’m excited to share them now….
The first polish I pulled out of the box was ‘The A List’ from Danglefoot Nail Polish. Straight away, wow! It’s a beautiful silvery super-holo base with multi-chrome flakies that change from green/blue to pink. Very impressed with this one! I used three thin coats but that was more to do with me being greedy for the flakies! It probably would have covered just perfectly in 2 normal coats.
Next out was Princess Nail Lacquer ‘Walk of Fame’. Ashleigh of PNL loves pink and sparkly and this is definitely an Ashleigh polish! A fuchsia holo polish crammed with multi-chrome flakies (I can see gold, green, pink and blue). I love pink and holo so this is VERY me, two coats and it was perfect.
‘Rodeo Drive Baby!’ by Opulent Essences was next. A bronze holo with gold flakies. I will be honest, I wasn’t sure of this one when I saw the bottle, basically as it’s not the kind of colour that I usually go for. However, once out of the bottle and onto the nails it’s a different story. It is a beautiful shade that would suit most skin tones and the gold flakies add a little extra special shimmer. This one needed three thin coats to get it to cover perfectly.
Last, but not least, was ‘La La Land’ from Freckles Polish. I LOVE Freckles Polishes and I knew I had to get the box when I heard that there would be a Freckles as Julieann, the lovely lady behind Freckles, no longer makes polishes (which makes my nail OCD twitchy as I have part collections!). La La Land is a stunning blurple polish which is super sparkly with holo and flakies too. This was a two coat polish and is very wow on the nail.
This box came with a cosmetic extra, an eye-shadow pot from FairyPants. Fairypants is a company which makes vegan cosmetics including nail polish. The cute little glass pot of eye-shadow that I received was in shade ‘Cordelia’. I don’t know if everyone who got the Hollywood Box got the same colour but the one I received was a dark gunmetal grey which would look great on just about anyone.
Right then, this was my first Indie Box from these lovely ladies so, thoughts? I honestly thought it was fantastic. I loved the four polishes in the box, they fit the Hollywood theme perfectly, glitz and sparkles packed in. As for the eyeshadow, I don’t wear very much make up (in a time struggle, nails win over make up) but it is a very wearable colour and I’m sure I’ll either use it at some point or be able to pass it onto someone who can!
Favourite polish? That’s a tough one…. it would probably be a tie between Danglefoot and Freckles, I can’t honestly decide. I know that when I saw both of them I loved them instantly and couldn’t decide which to swatch first!
Would I buy again? Hell, yes! I’ve enjoyed this box and the whole surprise aspect of not knowing what I’m going to get is a little unnerving but it’s all great fun, I hope the ladies do another box soon!
